Molson Green supply Bryn Group with a Sennebogen 821E and improve efficiency.

South Wales multi-disciplinary waste, quarrying and recycling company Bryn Group has revamped its fleet with the introduction of a new materials handler.

It has taken a Sennebogen 821E machine to help pick, sort and process material at the firm’s base in Hengoed near Treharris in South Wales.

The company is a longstanding Molson Green customer and this latest machine replaces a modified Hyundai excavator that had been working in the waste shed.
In a departure from the norm the Sennebogen has been supplied with a tracked crawler undercarriage, a ploy specific to the Bryn Group team requirements according to area sales manager Luke Mercer.

“We had a look at what they wanted the machine to do. The company has extensive facilities which include a huge shed that covers its waste pile. In smaller operations, the waste pile is accessed using a wheeled machine but that can make it difficult to reach across the pile. The tracked machine can actually get on top of the pile and select material from all parts. It means the waste operation is much more efficient and is worked continually,” says Luke.

Powered by a Cummins QSB 4.5 diesel engine the Sennebogen 821E offers exceptional fuel efficiency with up to 20% fuel savings when working in its ECO Mode with reduced engine speed. Its operating weight of approximately 24tonnes depending on carriage option and attachment the 821E has an extending cab that can elevate to almost 6m above ground level offering superb all-round visibility for the operator. It has a total transport length of around 10m – again depending on carriage and arm with a body transport width of approximately 2.5m.

The Bryn Group has taken its Sennebogen with a specialist attachment from another Molson Green partner company, manufacturer NPK.

It offers attachments to the demolition and waste handling sectors and the Bryn Group Sennebogen 821E has been coupled with an NPK DG20 Selector Grab which boasts an open jaw gape of 2.05m, depth of 1.28m ad width of 950mm.

“The latest set up it has with the Sennebogen 821E and the NPK Selector Grab means Bryn Group now has a machine that specialises in materials handling for its waste operation but is also flexible enough to work on the firm’s agriculture and wood recycling plant if required,” says Luke.
