S Norton & Co drone video shows scrap processing from the air

Ever wondered what happens to thousands of old cars, washing machines and other metal items when they reach the end of their lives? You can find out with fascinating footage from the air produced by S Norton & Co Ltd, one of the UK’s leading metal recyclers.

The Liverpool-based family-owned firm has recycled scrap metal for more than 50 years, operating from their extensive dockside processing site where this new drone video was filmed: http://www.s-norton.com/company-profile/

The film gives a ‘bird’s eye’ view of how scrap cars and other metal items get shredded and processed before being shipped to steel makers all over the world in vessels with up to 50,000 tonnes capacity at a time.

S Norton Assistant Site Manager at Liverpool, John Forrest commented: “My friend Alasdair Sutton is a drone pilot, so we invited him down to create an aerial video to put on our website”. Alasdair said: “It’s fascinating to see what happens to old scrap metal, like cars and washing machines. The sheer scale of the operation is amazing – and not something the public sees very often!”
