Ridgway Rentals Ltd takes delivery of £9m worth of new Komatsu Machines

Based in Oswestry, Shropshire, third-generation family owned business RIDGWAY Rentals Ltd is all set to take delivery of 60 large earthmovers from Marubeni-Komatsu of Redditch. The mammoth £9million deal includes a large number of Komatsu’s 13 ton zero tail swing excavators plus 22 ton, 30 ton, 36 ton, and 50 ton excavators along with a range of dozers and 30 ton dump trucks.

The zero tail swing PC138US-11 machines are EU Stage IV compliant, offering customers the latest in fuel economy and emissions reduction, whilst being able to work in super tight spaces. However, the real showstoppers of the order are the PC210LCi-11 excavators and D51PXi-24 and D61PXi-24 dozers featuring intelligent machine control.

As early adopters of this factory integrated technology, RIDGWAY were one of the first plant hirers to offer such machines to their customers. With the ability to electronically read the site plans and ensure that the machine operates in the most efficient way, many of RIDGWAY’s customers have already benefitted from the minimised work effort, shortened job times and reduced fuel usage the technology brings. As a result, customer demand for these intelligent machines is growing, with this batch of new machines representing additions to the fleet as opposed to renewals.

With so much technologically advanced equipment in the fleet, RIDGWAY are understandably keen to keep an eye on their investment, and Komatsu’s remote monitoring system, Komtrax™ allows them to do just that. The advanced GPS technology enables the RIDGWAY team to precisely locate any machine, monitor its health, measure actual working times vs idle times, take service meter readings and flag up any potential issues before they become a problem. From a total fleet management perspective, it’s a very powerful tool indeed.

All these new machines come with Komatsu CARE – Komatsu’s maintenance programme that covers factory-scheduled maintenance for the first 3 years. Additionally, Marubeni-Komatsu Service Contracts will ensure all service, maintenance and repair work is carried out for RIDGWAY swiftly and safely by Komatsu-trained fitters.

This continued commitment to providing the UK Construction Industry with the latest technology at a price it can afford is part of RIDGWAYs’ DNA, with the goal being to help customers improve their overall productivity at a time when the UK needs this so desperately. The RIDGWAY board is made up of two generations of the Jones family and Tim, Stuart and Robert Jones mean what they say. “Our main aim in business is to deliver the machines that our customers want, at a cost that they can afford. Our customers’ needs are paramount and it’s in our interest for them to be as profitable as possible”.
