New Leica, Trimble and Xsite Ready Kits from Doosan

New Leica, Trimble and Xsite Ready Kits are now available for the Doosan range of wheeled and crawler excavators from 14 to 30 tonne, to meet the increasing demand for machine guidance systems for use with excavators.

The new Ready Kits can be ordered direct from the factory through Doosan Smart Solutions for use with Leica, Trimble and Xsite 2D and 3D machine guidance systems. Machine guidance Ready Kits offered by Doosan can differ according to the model and the region concerned.

Faster Lead Times
The collaboration between Doosan and these machine guidance system manufacturers means that customers in Europe are now able to order excavators pre-installed with Leica, Trimble and Xsite Ready Kits.

These kits include all the components required to make sure a machine is ready for the installation of a guidance system at a later date. They enable a faster and simplified installation of the respective machine guidance system components with very little or no welding, re-painting, drilling or disassembly required.

The Ready Kits are fitted on customer machines in the Doosan Customization Centre in the Netherlands. As a result, lead times on machines have been reduced and the process also lowers workloads in dealer/customer workshops. It is even possible to modify existing orders up to just a few days before the machines are shipped to the customer.

Another advantage is that the systems are fitted by fully trained staff at the Doosan Customization Centre, so it is an integrated and professional process.

The Ready Kit option gives a customer flexibility as they are not obliged to install the complete 2D/3D system immediately. The customer’s excavator will have the main brackets, wires and sensors installed in readiness for the rest of the 2D/3D system to be added at a later date.

These machine guidance systems give operators access to design surfaces, grades and alignments on a display inside the excavator cab. The systems use GNSS, GPS, laser, sonic or total station technology to accurately position the blade or bucket in real time, significantly reducing material overages and improving the contractor's productivity and efficiency.

Depending on the system in place, the site plan and grade information can be displayed in the cab, so operators can finish jobs faster with minimal supervision, obtaining higher precision finishing with a reduced number of passes.

In addition, there is no need to wait for subcontractors to provide survey and grade checking information, ensuring jobs are completed correctly the first time. This can reduce rework and the need for stakes, hubs or stringlines, which can also reduce costs and the risk of errors.

Use of a common machine guidance platform across an entire excavator fleet allows customers to port the system between machines and machine types. Flexible and scalable components can be used on a wide variety of machines for an even faster return on investment. The improved productivity that results leads to a reduction in personnel and machine costs and accurate grading also helps customers to carefully control material usage and fuel costs.
