Miller digs deep in Oman

Earthmoving attachments manufacturer, Miller UK, is continuing to strengthen its presence in the Middle East with Oman Hitachi dealer, Al Fairuz, using Miller products across its entire fleet.

Al Fairuz, which is based in Muscat in Oman, is one of the biggest hydraulic excavator dealers in the country and has represented Hitachi for many years. It has used Miller buckets and couplers for the last four years and this year purchased enough to cover its entire fleet of Hitachi excavators. These will be put to use on a variety of different infrastructure projects across the country, mainly for road construction and pipe laying works.

Al Fairuz uses Miller’s Direct Mount Heavy Duty buckets with the Hitachi ZX 350 excavator, which makes up 80% of machine sales. The company has also recently purchased the same bucket model for its Hitachi ZX 240 and Hitachi ZX 470 excavators, meaning that its entire fleet is now supplied with a Miller Direct Mount Heavy Duty bucket.

The shape of the Miller Direct Mount Heavy Duty bucket is designed to improve efficiency by reducing the area of the bucket in contact with the ground which creates less resistance during the digging cycle and ensures a higher fill factor each time as its compact shape can improve the machine’s digging force.

For the last four years, Miller has also been Al Fairuz’s chosen supplier of quick couplers along with the buckets and the company is currently finalising an order for a specialist riddle bucket ideal for sorting applications.

Ashok Sudhakaran, chief executive officer of Al Fairuz, said: “For us it all comes down to product quality and we have so far been very happy with the quality of the buckets from Miller and we’ve had good feedback from clients using them on site.

“We enjoy an excellent working relationship with the entire team at Miller which makes the whole process much smoother from start to finish and we look forward to continuing to work closely with them in the future.”

Brendan Quill, sales and marketing director at Miller commented, “The fact that our products are now used so widely in Oman as well as many other export markets, including Qatar, UAE, India, Singapore, Australia and across Europe, highlights the impressive global reach of the Miller brand today.

“Our reputation as a world-leading earthmoving attachment designer and manufacturer is down to our continued commitment to innovative design and high standards of safety. We’re proud that this has been recognised by contractors and plant hire companies across the world who see the benefits of using Miller attachments.”
