JCB powers up for CONEXPO

At Conexpo 2020 JCB Power Systems will showcase a series of new product launches for the North American market.

These include:

  • A new 3.0-litre, four-cylinder Tier 4 JCB 430 diesel engine
  • A range of US Tier 4 G-Drive powerpacks for the North American power generation market
  • An OEM engine telematics system for monitoring JCB-powered equipment in the field

JCB 430 3.0-LITRE ENGINE

JCB Power Systems is introducing the new 3.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine to the OEM North American market. It offers a 34% increase in power density over the previous generation 444 engine, in a compact package that is 24% smaller. The new engine delivers up to 8% fuel economy improvement, an estimated saving to customers of more than 277 US gal (1,050 litres) of fuel per year.

The compact US Tier 4 JCB 430 diesel engine will build upon the success of JCB’s 4.4-litre US Tier 4 444 Ecomax engine, offering 74hp (55kW) output at 2,200rpm, with a massive 325lb-ft (440Nm) of torque available at 1,150rpm. It meets US Tier 4 emissions legislation with no requirement for exhaust aftertreatment. No DPF, no SCR and no DOC is needed due to the efficient and innovative combustion system design.

JCB ENTERS US G-DRIVE MARKET

2020 also sees JCB Power Systems launch a range of US Tier 4 G-Drive powerpacks into the North American power generation market, delivering low cost of ownership, reduced maintenance costs, compact dimensions and proven off-highway durability. There will be two 60Hz G-Drives using JCB’s 4.4-litre 444 diesel engine and one with the larger 4.8-litre 448.

The 4.4-litre units are offered with outputs of 58hp, delivering 54kVA/43kWe prime at 1,800rpm and 87hp, delivering 80kVA/64kWe prime. The larger engine has been rated to produce an output of 131hp, for a generator of 122kVA/98KWe prime at 1,800rpm.  All three engines have full electronic control with common rail fuel injection and are compatible with JCB LiveLink telematics system.

OEM ENGINE TELEMATICS

JCB will introduce an OEM engine telematics system that will revolutionise the use of JCB engines in the field. Powered by the proven JCB LiveLink telematics system that is already providing operating and location data on almost 200,000 pieces of equipment globally, engine customers will be able to remotely monitor JCB-powered equipment across the world.

The data link will provide real-time information, including location, fuel use, idle time and service history, allowing companies to better utilise machinery and to more effectively plan preventative maintenance. It gives customers remote insight into the safe operation, security, performance and productivity of their machinery.
