Game wins Coal Products

Lincolnshire based Game Engineering Ltd has recently completed a project for Coal Products at Immingham Dock which involved the stripping out of redundant conveyors and structural steelwork and replacing with two new belt conveyors and associated systems. What made the project more interesting was the need to complete all the work in 2 weeks while Coal Products were on a routine shut down.

Coal Products Limited is Europe’s largest smokeless fuel manufacturer, annually supplying around 300,000 tonnes of market leading coal based products to over 600 local UK merchants and a thriving European market. The two existing conveyors – H21 and H22 – were worn out so project managers approached various companies and finally awarded the project to Game Engineering Ltd.

Planning was the key element to this project because even though the installation had to be completed in a very short period of time, Game Engineering Ltd was able to manufacture in house, all the structural steelwork and most of the conveyor system so that everything was on site prior to the installation date.

Because of this, the installation team was able to dismantle the existing conveyors, complete all the necessary civils work and complete the installation in time for Coal Products own team to install the electrical system and run the plant.

The new belt conveyors are a considerable improvement over the old system. Mick Warman is the Project Engineer. “As far as this project was concerned, we put a lot of pressure on Game Engineering to complete the job during our annual shutdown. Not only did they manage to keep to the installation schedule but, just as importantly, they did it to budget.”
