Driver CPC Training Deadline

Mentor is reminding employers that they can take full advantage of our ALLMI accredited lorry loader training courses and gain the CPC approved training hours towards the required 35 hours of periodic training for your Drivers Qualification Card (DQC).

The Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) training was introduced as a compulsory part of every lorry driver’s training and aims to increase driver safety and keep up-to-date with any new techniques and updates of law changes that you may come across in your day-to-day driving.

The training element of the Drivers CPC runs as a rolling programme in which 35 hours of training must be undertaken in every 5-year period, with the deadline for the next window ending in September 2019.

If drivers are unable to meet the upcoming deadline, they can be fined up to £1,000 and offences can be passed further to the Traffic Commissioner where they can decide if a further action needs to be taken. It is important to remember that failure to complete the training is not just illegal, but it can be a danger to both the driver on the road and other drivers if they are not fully competent to carry out their job on the road.

After recognition from The Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT), Mentor can offer two courses that can be contributed towards the CPC training hours:

  • ALLMI Lorry Loader Novice Course
  • ALLMI Lorry Loader Refresher Course
