Breheny Civil Engineering make multi-million pound machinery investment in Kubota

With lockdown restrictions easing and the construction industry adapting to the new normal, Breheny Civil Engineering has signalled its intent to support the UK’s economic fight back with the announcement of a multi-million pound investment in its machinery fleet.

The company, one of largest family-owned civil engineering businesses in the UK, has invested in a brand new fleet of Kubota’s market leading range of innovative and high performance construction machinery through independent Kubota dealer HOSPLANT Sales Ltd.

The order, part of Breheny’s commitment to delivering service excellence to its clients, includes Kubota mini-excavators in the 3-tonne, 5-tonne and 8-tonne weight categories - machines essential to delivering major infrastructure projects.

Andrew Fleming, Joint Managing Director at Breheny, said: “Despite the challenging economic backdrop, as a business that sits at the heart of the construction industry supply chain, we believe we are in an ideal position to support the UK’s economic revival.  That’s why we have made this significant investment in our plant fleet, ensuring we have the most efficient and hard working machinery solutions to deliver successful infrastructure projects.”

The order marks the first ever new machinery deal between Breheny and HOSPLANT.  The two construction businesses have a long-standing relationship in the sector, with HOSPLANT supporting Breheny for many years with aftermarket solutions, including servicing and parts.

Andrew continued: “Over the years, we’ve accumulated a number of ageing assets that were not efficient to service and maintain.

“In the last 12 months, we have undertaken an extensive review of our fleet, resulting in the company introducing a new strategy focused on the total cost of machinery ownership.

“As part of this, we have completely overhauled our fleet, consolidated plant, sold off ageing machines and rationalised our asset base. This has enabled us to concentrate on the higher value items that are used everyday on-site, resulting in significant investment in new machinery solutions that are critical on the majority of projects, like excavators, rollers and dumpers.

“Extensive tests and trials were done by our operators on-site with a number of manufacturers to ensure the machines we were investing in were fit for purpose.  The feedback we got on the Kubota’s was excellent.”

Essential to the success of Breheny’s strategy was working in partnership with a dealer that could not only supply the best machines on the market, but could also back this up with unrivalled service support.

Gary Mold, Director at HOSPLANT, commented: “We’ve developed a fantastic working relationship with Breheny over the years for providing outstanding service and support on its plant equipment so we were delighted to work with them to help meet their new machinery needs.

“Kubota is renowned in the construction market for providing innovative, efficient and high quality solutions that get the job done, time and again, without the risk of costly downtime, so were the ideal choice to add value to Breheny’s fleet.

“To complement this, Kubota’s five-year warranty and 5000 hour service package was a major factor in Breheny’s decision making process, giving the company complete peace of mind that its fleet would be supported by a nationwide network for servicing and repairs.”

All of Kubota’s mini-excavators are designed with a host of innovative features to maximise performance, environmental credentials and operator comfort and safety.  In addition, anti-theft technology increases security, whilst the engine and its components are easy to access for any maintenance and service programmes.
