Armstrong Aggregates X Marshalls Plc Partnership - Armstrongs expands North West operations at Fletcher Bank Quarry
Bolton-based Armstrongs Group will take on aggregate production at Marshalls’ Fletcher Bank Quarry in Ramsbottom from 27 July 2026...
From next week, Armstrongs will produce a full range of aggregates at Fletcher Bank Quarry, extending Armstrongs’ production footprint into Ramsbottom, strengthening its ability to serve customers across Greater Manchester, Lancashire and surrounding North West areas.
Fletcher Bank Quarry has supplied stone to the region since the late 19th century. Its Carboniferous sandstone is used to produce materials for construction and infrastructure projects, with the quarry well positioned to support both local collection and regional delivery.
The range produced by Armstrongs will include clean and drainage aggregates, pipe bedding, MOT Type 1, 6F5, crusher run materials and sands.
David Armstrong, Group CEO at Armstrongs Group, said: “Taking on aggregate production at Fletcher Bank Quarry is a significant opportunity for Armstrongs and an important next step in the continued growth of the business.
“Fletcher Bank is a well-established quarry with a long history of supplying high-quality materials across the region. Its location gives us an excellent base from which to strengthen our service to customers throughout Greater Manchester, Lancashire and the wider North West.
“This opportunity reflects the experience, hard work and professionalism of our entire team. We are proud to have been trusted by Marshalls to take production forward and look forward to beginning operations in July.”
The Fletcher Bank operation will complement Armstrongs Group’s existing network of five quarries at Pilkington and Montcliffe in Horwich, Brinscall near Chorley, Waddington Fell near Clitheroe and Shap in Cumbria.
Across these locations, the company produces and supplies primary and recycled aggregates, ready-mixed concrete, rock armour and bespoke dimensional stone for construction, infrastructure, civil engineering and architectural projects.
David added: “Growth for Armstrongs has always been about building greater capacity while continuing to provide the dependable products and personal service our customers know us for.
“Fletcher Bank creates new opportunities for the business, but it also allows us to bring our knowledge and capabilities closer to more customers across the region.”
