CIWM 2009

The Chartered Institute of Wastes Management 2009 conference will boast a new name and branding and be held at a different venue as it seeks to cope with the ongoing expansion of the sector.

Unlike previous conferences, which have been held in the coastal town of Torbay, next year's event will be switched to the ExCel centre in the east of London, a venue which offers greater delegate capacity and more state-of-the-art facilities.

According to CIWM chief executive Steve Lee, the initiative is being undertaken so as to make the Futuresource event a 'key diary date' for businesses and professionals working within the waste management sector.

As well as attracting UK-based specialists, it is also expected that the London location will help increase international interest in the conference, which has been billed as "Europe's sustainability event".
