Trasc Limited (Timber Recycling And Site Clearance) specialises in organic waste recycling, site clearance and volume reduction throughout the UK, concentrating on green waste processing for compost production, woodwaste recycling and site clearance of vegetation. Their modern fleet of equipment includes shredders (all of them by Doppstadt and from distributors Blue Southern), mobile trommels, windrow turners, loaders and magnetic separators for removal of tramp metals. The company offers short and long-term operated plant hire, as well as contract packages as a complete turnkey service.
Trasc's new Doppstadt AK-530 is designed specifically for green and wood waste processing, boasting large volume capacities for cost-effective and efficient fine shredding, with the availability of an easily replaceable fine shredding basket. The Doppstadt AK-530 is mounted on a three-axle trailer chassis and has a small footprint for its power and output, being only 11.20 metres in length (15.45 metres including hydraulically folding tail conveyor) and 2.50 metres in width.
The Doppstadt DW-2560 bought by Trasc is a low-speed, single shaft high torque shredder with an hydraulically controlled shredding comb. The 3.35m long, 1m wide discharge conveyor runs at a speed of 2.3m/second and the 600mm diameter 2,500mm long roller is equipped with wear-resistant teeth which tear the material through the hydraulically controlled comb which opens automatically to accommodate large tramp materials, thereby protecting the machine and reducing tool wear. Easily replaced comb elements are highly accessible from outside the machine and there is a veritable armoury of quick-change tools to suit specific shredding tasks. Power is provided by a 290kW Daimler Chrysler engine, type OM 501 LA, which has a high torque performance producing low noise and exhaust emissions, whilst returning excellent fuel consumption figures. The transmission is via direct drive and planetary gear for optimum efficiency. The separate motor housing is conveniently located away from the shredding area and on the front of the plant. All controls are incorporated in one centralised control panel and are simple to use, featuring multifunction display.
Trasc's new DW-2560 predominantly acts as a pre-shredder for the AK-530, working in tandem to produce finely shredded green and wood waste in composting material preparation.
