Alchemy Metals Launches New Carbide Recycling Arm

Alchemy Metals Ltd have launched a dedicated carbide recycling arm to offer engineering companies the unique opportunity to recycle their redundant/scrap carbide tooling, HSS and tool steels through a direct to melt service.

Carbide recycling has to date been a somewhat haphazard process with many engineering companies throwing their used carbide tooling away or into their steel scrap bins – most companies are simply not aware of the value of carbide in its used state.

'Carbide Recycling' has been set up as a division of Alchemy Metals and will educate its customers about the best way in which to reduce environmental impact and increase their revenue by recycling their carbide, HSS and tool steels.

A range of specialized carbide storage containers and recycling stations are available.

Alchemy Metals Operations Director, Karen Greasby commented, "Used carbide is a highly valuable resource. It is important that engineering companies adopt a clear policy for recycling their carbide waste".

Alchemy are strong believers in the Waste Hierarchy of Reducing, Reusing and Recycling of all waste streams.

Reduce – Reduce your carbide consumption by buying the best and most economical product for the job required and use a carbide logging sheet to control all new tooling out of the store with used carbide being exchanged in.

Reuse – Reuse your tooling to its maximum potential and where possible, on some tooling, send it for re-grinding.

Recycle – Don't just throw it away in the general waste or steel bin. Recycle it into the most environmentally friendly route. Improve your environmental impact and increase your financial return. Specialist carbide containers are available to store your waste.
