Avery Weigh-Tronix has set a new Guinness World Record for the most people weighed on a scale at the same time.
A total of 130 people took part in the record by standing on one the company's Bridgemont weighbridges at the Recycling and Waste Management show at the NEC. The 130 people weighed in at 10,600kg.
Independent adjudicators declared that Avery Weigh-Tronix had met all of the criteria for the record at 12.25pm. The final step is for Guinness to check the adjudicators and independent witness reports. The accuracy of the mass weigh in was verified before the attempt with each individual having his or her weight checked before being counted onto the weighbridge.
Says marketing executive Michele Williams, from Avery Weigh-Tronix: "Most people will have come across an Avery scale at some point in their lives; we have been involved in weighing for more than 200 years. We are therefore delighted to have set another industry first with this world record and would like to thank all 130 volunteers at the show."
The Bridgemont weighbridge used measured 7.5m x 3.35m, uses an E1205 indicator for control and an XR remote display showed the total weight. This is a common weighing solution for the waste and recycling industry.
