Matpro Machinery delivers two new Steelweld Strobe ECS 1500 machines to Brooke Energy after successful hire period with CRJ Services

Matpro Machinery has recently equipped leading UK wood biomass organisation Brooke Energy with two brand new Strobe, eddy current separators.

Manufactured by Steelweld Enviro Products Ltd, the Strobe ECS1500 is the latest mobile eddy current separator on the market, which separates ferrous and non-ferrous metals for a variety of applications.

Both Strobe machines are currently installed at Brooke Energy’s two wood processing facilities situated in Exeter and Winchester, which both in turn, help feed its 5 biomass facilities located in Exeter (x2), Taunton, Winchester and Pontypool.

Brooke Energy presently burns up to 70,000 tons of waste wood per year and heavily relies on high quality, metal-free material to be presented to the furnace.

Glyn Brooke at Brooke Energy commented; “In the earlier years we experienced continuous problems with aluminium in the fuel, whereby it repeatedly melted in the heat of the furnace causing us complications. Operational difficulties at the furnace grate meant we needed a swift solution to remove all aluminium from the process”.
As an immediate solution, Brooke Energy sought out to eradicate the problem through a hire-purchase from CRJ Services. CRJ initially supplied the company with a HOGMAG eddy current system, however after lengthy discussions between Glyn and CRJ Director Rob Symons, they mutually decided a more longer-term solution was required.

As the UK’s exclusive dealer for Steelweld Enviro Products, CRJ’s sister company Matpro Machinery was able to supply Brooke Energy with the new Strobe ECS1500 for an initial one week trial period. The trial proved successful and Brooke Energy decided to purchase two of the units for its wood processing facilities in the South of England.

Glyn Brooke at Brooke Energy further commented; “The two strobe machines are working tremendously well, as expected from something supplied through the CRJ organisation. Rob’s continual support, honesty and level of customer service has been exceptional, and I have been truly impressed by the overall performance and reliability of the machines since their installation”

Rob Symons at CRJ Services commented; “Together with Matpro Machinery, we are happy to have provided Brooke Energy with both short and long-term solutions for their material processing requirements. The Strobe ECS 1500 is a fantastic machine, which we are proud to have assisted in the development. It has met and exceeded all expectations so far, with a significant advantage of having a low infeed height which means it can be directly fed from a screener, which is currently a major struggle with other separators operating in our marketplace”
