777Group has recently utilised a Kinshofer MQP25 multiprocessor attachment with one of the UK’s largest demolition excavators.
Supplied by BPH, the attachment was married to the company’s 180 tonne ultra high-reach machine and used to demolish five grain silos located on the banks of the River Thames. The undertaking was part of an ongoing project to completely dismantle the Syral sugar factory, a sprawling 13 acre complex in Greenwich, London. Utilised for four weeks, the attachment demolished the five tall silos in quick succession, munching through 3000 tonnes of reinforced concrete in total. Operating at heights in excess of 55metres the MQP25 was able to use all its 750kN of crushing power to decimate the structures’ walls in an efficient and safe manner.
Commenting on the attachment’s effectiveness Daryl Price, 777 Group’s Commercial Director said:
“By process of elimination, we have found the 2 tonne MQP25 attachment offers the best power to weight ratio above 50 metres. It’s aggressive at munching its way through the 300mm walls and yet, according to our machine operatives, doesn’t feel unresponsive or lethargic”.
The company has been so impressed with the Kinshofer’s performance it has since been used again with the giant demolition rig to demolish a high-rise block of flats in Glasgow.
