Linatex is leading the way to ensure that our Australian Rubber Liners, Hose Makers & Warehousing Managers are the best in the industry. Working in partnership with the Australian Government, Linatex has developed the ‘Pay for Skills' program - a process that assesses the specific skill level of an employee, and results in a nationally recognised formal qualification.
Linatex has a commitment to ensuring that their Australian production employees are recognised formally for the skills that they demonstrate on a daily basis. Encouraging the development of these skills through the delivery of structured training programmes ensures that our products are made safely and meet quality specifications across all sites. Involvement in such a training programme also ensures we have a qualified employee in close proximity to even the remotest of our customers' sites.
The ‘Pay for Skills' program provides Linatex staff with a unique opportunity, working in partnership with the Australian Government, to qualify in "Certificate 3 - Process Manufacturing". This is similar to obtaining a trade qualification.
Consisting of four distinct skill levels, the ‘Pay for Skills' program is divided into three specialist areas; Hose Making, Rubber Lining and Warehousing.
The program recognises the skills that each employee masters in their chosen field or fields, and provides a structured training program that encourages workers to continually improve their skill set until they have satisfied the highest industry standards.
Within the last 12 months Linatex has successfully qualified 20 employees, with many more employees currently working their way towards qualification.
"The ‘Pay for Skills' program allows Linatex to meet the promise of consistent skilled manufacturing. The mining industry has often faced differing levels of what is considered skilled. By working together with the Australian government, Linatex has developed a program that meets the highest standards available," says Madeleine Allnut, Linatex Global HR Director.
