Dimensional freight weigh, also called "Dim" weight will soon become a common, ordinary feature of shipping and distribution. The freight industry world wide is moving quickly to implement volumetric weight as the mandatory method for charging for the carriage of goods. Dimensional freight weight is used because the space of the a freight takes on the trailer may cost more to transport than the freight actual weight. Dim is calculated based on the freight load dimensions and a dimensional factor that applies a minimum weight per volume.
