Highly productive JS370 leads updated JCB excavator line-up

JCB has further improved its growing JS range of excavators, with the introduction of the JS370 and JS300 crawler excavators. EU Stage IIIB/ US Tier 4 Interim engines deliver low emissions with proven fuel benefits. The heavyline machines also benefit from the latest JCB excavator cab and the SMART control system, maximising productivity and minimising operating costs for the customer.

JS370 Delivers Improved Control
JCB’s new JS370, a replacement for the previous JS360, benefits from a Tier 4 Interim Isuzu diesel engine with revised flexible mountings for improved noise and vibration isolation. The capacity of the machine’s cooling pack has been increased and a new demand-based control for the engine-driven cooling fan optimises fan speed, reducing noise further and contributing to a 3% fuel improvement over the previous machine.

JCB has moved from a parallel pump drive hydraulic system to a tandem pump, cutting the need for damping hoses and other balancing components. This too contributes to improved fuel consumption.

The JS370 adopts the latest JS cab structure with improved seating, control layout and lighting. It also benefits from the 7” full colour monitor, including a standard rear view camera to boost safety on site.

JS300 Raises Mid-Weight Productivity
The JS300 crawler excavator has replaced JCB’s popular JS290, offering robust build quality, increased operator comfort and controllability, plus the potential for a 5% saving in fuel consumption, cutting operating costs and exhaust emissions.

The JS300 is also powered by a Tier 4 Interim six-cylinder Isuzu engine. This highly efficient engine drives a twin variable displacement pump hydraulic system, controlled by JCB’s SMART Control work mode dial that automatically adjusts the working mode as the operator increases engine rpm. This, along with an on-demand hydraulically-driven cooling fan, results in fuel savings of up to 5%, with a drop in exhaust emissions.

The machine retains its class-leading breakout and lifting forces. However the excavator is equipped with a new tipping link geometry that provides an increased vertical wall digging depth, adding to the versatility of this powerful 30 tonne machine.

As with the JS370, the JS300 uses the latest JCB cab structure, with increased soundproofing and enhanced structural rigidity. In combination with the on-demand cooling fan this contributes to reduced internal noise levels). The excavator features JCB’s high specification operator’s seating and a 7” full colour multi-function LCD display that is easy to read in all light conditions, while revised switchgear makes it easier to operate the machine.

The screen provides a monitor for a standard rear view camera, providing operators with excellent visibility all around the machine. The monitor offers the operator a choice of customisable screens to display the specific information that they require to work efficiently.

Improved Excavator SMART Control
Selection of the excavators’ various power modes has been simplified with the use of a single rotating Smart control. As this dial is turned the engine speed increases through four pre-set power bands, from L to H+. The Lifting power band L delivers high hydraulic pressures with reduced pump flow, for maximum lift capacity and control, while General power operating bands deliver the optimum balance of productivity and efficiency.
Heavy power band has been designed to provide the power required for heavy earthmoving duties and Heavy Plus delivers maximum pump and engine output. To select Heavy Plus power band the operator must select a + button beside the rotary throttle dial, ensuring that it cannot be activated accidentally. In addition, the operator can access a Power Boost function automatically in L or manually in the remaining power bands.

The machines incorporate a stiffened engine housing structure, with a three-piece bonnet for ease of access. Louvred doors and heavy-duty bonnet catches contribute to increased durability and reliability. All daily checks can be performed from ground level, with both engine oil and coolant levels accessible through the SMART Control monitor in the cab, reducing downtime for daily maintenance and boosting productivity.

JCB’s proven LiveLink telematic system has also been enhanced, offering fleet managers and owners remote access to fuel consumption and operating data for the machine. This allows the manager to see which operating modes have been used and to determine how the equipment is being used on site.
