Bobcat Launches New E25 2.5 tonne Compact Excavator

Bobcat has launched the new E25 reduced tail swing (RTS) compact excavator.  Equipped with cab and standard bucket, the new E25 model has an operating weight of 2.571 kg and combines this with optimised stability and weight distribution.

The weight distribution in the E25 excavator is optimised through the use of proven ‘4-plate box’ technology to reduce the weight of the workgroup, which moves the centre of gravity of the machine towards the back of the excavator.  As a result, the E25 does not require any additional counterweight.

This enhances the stability and ensures that the E25 model can be transported by trailer more easily (maximum towable weight, including trailer: 3.5 tonnes)..Part of the E-Series of Bobcat compact excavators introduced over the last three years, the new E25 2.5 tonne model offers all the advantages common to the E-Series, namely superior hydraulic performance, smooth and precise workgroup operation, exceptional operator comfort and high reliability.

Smooth and Powerful Hydraulics
Owing to the installation of a new main control valve and optimised pump and higher working pressure, the hydraulic system allows smooth, quick and simultaneous operations together with powerful digging forces.  The maximum digging depth of the E25 model is 2582 mm, with a maximum reach at ground level of 4553 mm and a maximum dump height of 3057 mm.

The open centre hydraulic system has a dedicated priority section in the main valve which creates a load-sensing feature, resulting in smooth and controllable feedback of operations.  The dedicated gear pump for the pilot controls creates the additional hydraulic flow to improve simultaneous operations.  This is combined with cushioned boom and arm cylinders providing smooth end-of-stroke movements to give the overall result - a quieter, more efficient and productive compact excavator.

Exceptional Operator Comfort
Both the canopy and cab versions of the E25 compact excavator offer plenty of foot and leg room as part of a very comfortable work environment.

Operator comfort and ample entry space have always been a very important feature of Bobcat compact excavators and the incorporation of the same spacious cab as that used on the 3 to 5 tonne machines, ensures that the Bobcat E25 model does not compromise on these features.  Designed according to the latest comfort, visibility and space standards, the cab on the E25 model is equipped with heating and is radio/MP3 ready as standard.

All-round visibility is excellent with 360° visibility and a full view to the right track and to the rear of the cab.  The wiper motor is mounted on the lower front window to provide better forward visibility and remove weight from the strut-assisted front window.  The front window cross-member section has also been reduced to a minimum to increase the forward visibility.

The strut-assisted front window opens and closes easily.  The travel controls with new cast aluminium pedals enable smooth, precise control of the machine.  When not in use, the pedals can fold forward for maximum foot room and easy cab clean-out.  The travel levers are positioned adjacent to each other, allowing easy drive control, even with one hand if necessary.  This makes it easier to backfill as the operator can steer with one hand while adjusting the blade with the other.

The control panel in the E25 model is similar that used across the E-Series and includes the following features: a clear display showing engine RPM and working hours; an automatic system to switch off the work lights after 10 minutes when the key is not in the ignition, preventing the battery from going flat and a fuel-filling interval bleep which indicates the level as the tank is being filled.  This helps to avoid spilling of fuel, especially when refuelling from a jerrycan.

Boom swing is controlled by a thumb wheel located on the left joystick, instead of the pedal control used on many similar machines of this size.  This feature ensures improved metering of the boom swing as well as offering more floor space for the operator.  Another new feature offered by the Bobcat E25 model is an auto-shift travel motor which allows an automatic transition of speeds.  The machine shifts automatically from low to high speed and vice versa, providing superb travel performance in any working conditions.

The operator activates this feature by simply pushing the button on top of the blade control lever.  The combination on the E25 model of the new engine, new air intake, cooling and exhaust system along with an entirely new pump and valve results in a much more comfortable working environment for the operator and bystanders.  The operator noise level is 77 dBA and bystander noise level is 93 dBA.

Sealed floor plates and insulation on the inside of the engine panel behind the seat protect the operator from undesired heat in the cab.  The directional lug rubber tracks enable a smoother ride with less vibration while providing an excellent grip.  Computer-aided design and highly durable materials and structures which are endurance-tested under extreme conditions contribute to improved reliability and extended service life.

The E25 is designed so all daily maintenance points are easy to access through the rear tailgate, right hand side cover and removable grill and side panels on both sides of the excavator.
