Saxlund kicks off 2018 with office move and new staff to support expanding business

Saxlund International, the UK arm of bulk solid handling and bio-energy combustion specialist Saxlund Group AB, kicks off 2018 with new larger offices and new appointments to support expanding business opportunities and over thirteen active biomass fuel handling and storage contracts at bioenergy projects across the UK.

These include multiple state-of-the-art waste to energy, biomass combustion and gasification projects with dominant industry partners including Bouygues Energies & Services, Galliford Try, M+W Group, Heat Recovery Solutions and most recently the fuel reception, storage and conveying system for the Go Green Fuels BioSNG project in Swindon.

Previously located in Southampton, the business has relocated to larger premises at Hursley near Winchester, providing additional space for engineering, design and support staff, as well as supplier and customer presentation areas.

The latest appointments include an additional Senior Design Engineer, a Chief Operations Officer to oversee all existing contracts and future business, together with a Technical Buyer to support future equipment and engineering service procurement.

Managing Director Matt Drew, who has led the UK business through a period of strong growth since 2012, also takes on the additional role of Head of Sales for the expanding Saxlund Group AB which includes main offices in Sweden, Germany.

Expected turnover for the group, which incorporates the specialist subsidiary Hotab, delivering turnkey combustion technology for mobile bioenergy, district heating and CHP plants, is now in the region of 390 Million SEK (£35 Million) per year.

UK Managing Director Matt Drew said: “We are in an increasingly dominant position within the international bulk solids handling and biomass combustion sectors, with capabilities across a range of industry sectors. Larger premises and the addition of several new positions will help us to continue the provision of high quality services and support to our existing UK customers and to win more business in the increasingly attractive bioenergy combustion markets.”

“In the UK and elsewhere in the Saxlund Group we also plan to build on our successes in the cement industry for alternative fuel handling systems, plus bulk material handling solutions in a range of industries including Energy from Waste, the particle board, pelleting sectors and sewage sludge,” Drew continued.

Under Matt Drew’s sales leadership and with the addition of new combustion solutions from Hotab, the group aims to double its service and aftermarket business within three years and sees huge potential in the changed market conditions brought about European legislation for flue gas emissions, the closure of Germany’s nuclear power plants, and the ongoing commitment to reduced carbon emissions.
