Mackoy Ltd adds more Volvos to its fleet

Two new fourteen tonne Volvo EC140E excavators and an eighteen tonne EC180E excavator have been delivered to Mackoy Ltd of Chandlers Ford Hampshire as the company continues to expand its groundworks and civil engineering business in the house building and industrial sectors

The new arrivals join a fleet of over 50 excavators ranging between 6 and 22 tonnes in operating weight, half of which carry the Volvo brand name. “We’ve continued to expand our plant fleet with Volvo machines based on their good quality, reliability and operator acceptance,” says Managing Director, Mike Mayock. “This time around, we opted for the latest E-versions of the EC140 which we use as all-rounders on site not just for digging foundations, but lifting blocks and handling all manner of building materials. The EC180E was specifically chosen to give greater lifting capacity when handling drag-box trench supports and more dig depth and reach for laying sewer pipes,” he continues.

Both models are powered by four-cylinder Volvo engines developing 122 and 148 nett hp respectively and offer the latest in engine technology and operating sophistication. For example, pump flow is controlled for combined digging and swinging operations to reduce the flow loss through the overload relief valves, whilst maintaining digging power and maximum swing torque. When Eco-mode is selected, the machine provides better fuel efficiency without loss of performance in most operating conditions.

The Volvo Care Cab offers a large roomy interior with plenty of leg room and foot space. The excellent all round visibility is enhanced by pressurized and filtered cab air supplied by a 14-vent, climate control system. An adjustable easy-to-read LCD colour monitor provides real-time information of the machine functions, important diagnostic information and a wide variety of work tool settings. The monitor also doubles as a monitor for the rear view camera.
