New Volvos help kick-start a new dedicated plant division

RM Group Services Ltd of Wolverhampton has launched RM Plant Services, a dedicated plant division of the parent group investing as it does so in a quantity of Volvo compact excavators – all supplied by Volvo Construction Equipment’s utility dealer SM Plant Ltd.

Established some 30 years ago by Managing Director Mark Tolley, RM Group Services Ltd started out as a company specialising in tools and fixings in Wolverhampton. Mark Tolley gradually expanded his business to include small tool and equipment hire under the auspices of RM Hirefix. The company has been a long standing user of Volvo compact excavators ranging from 1.5 tonnes up to 8.0 tonnes in operating weight along with a mix of tele-handlers, rollers, dumpers and associated small plant.

Going forwards, both RM Hirefix and the newly created RM Plant Services will operate in tandem with RM Hirefix servicing the local Wolverhampton market with tool hire and machines up to 3.0 tonnes in operating weight. If and when necessary, RM Hirefix will now be able to tap into the resources of its sister, RM Plant Services, for larger machines as the situation demands.

“We’ve had a good association with SM Plant for the last fifteen years, not least due to the overall product quality and the features that come as standard with the Volvo range of equipment,” comments Mark Tolley. “The after sales support and care we’ve received

has been equally as good on the odd occasions when we’ve needed it so all in all we cannot fault the dealer nor the product,” he continues.

With this endorsement Mark Tolley has had no problem in recently doubling the size of his compact excavator fleet with new Volvos as he launches RM Plant Services. The recent additions supplied by SM Plant include ECR50D’s, EC27C’s, EC15C’s and the largest machine in the fleet to date –the 8.8 tonne ECR88D reduced swing radius compact excavator.

RM Plant Services occupies a dedicated one acre facility on the outskirts of Wolverhampton on Millfields Road close to the Black Country route with good connections to the M6 motorway. It incorporates a spacious yard, well equipped workshop and parts facility along with dedicated diagnostics and fault finding bay. Mark Tolley employs three full time engineers looking after the whole spectrum of plant with a total of 14 employees overall.

The company specialises in hiring to small and medium sized contractors in the West Midlands conurbation and generally within a 30 mile radius of its new Wolverhampton base. All hire is non-operated and is available on a spot, medium or long term basis.
