Shell Bitumen showcases future mobility at shell eco-marathon, make the future london

Shell Bitumen will be showcasing FUTURE MOBILITY - For Roads, Runways & Racetracks, today and tomorrow – at the Shell Eco-marathon (30 June – 3 July 2016, London).

At the heart of the event will be the Shell Eco-marathon student mileage challenge where more than 200 teams and 3,000 students from all over Europe design and build the most fuel efficient vehicles that the best bright young minds can imagine.

The teams will compete on a specially-designed track at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park which will be paved with Shell Bitumen Low Temp Binder (LT) to see just how far they can drive on the equivalent of one litre of fuel.

Over the course of the competition, an estimated 50,000 members of the public will walk through the ‘Make the Future’ gates to watch competitors take on the challenge.

Emma Mallinson, Regional Marketing Manager Europe/Africa Shell Bitumen, said: “The theme of ‘Make the Future London’ neatly sums up the work that our scientists and engineers are carrying out in developing bitumens to meet the challenges of a growing global population and increased city living.

“We are particularly delighted to have laid the track for this year’s event and to showcase some of our technology innovations that make road building more efficient with less energy and greater durability.”

The Shell Eco-marathon takes place at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London E20 2ST. The nearest train, tube and bus stops are at Stratford, Stratford International, Hackney Wick, Pudding Mill and Leyton stations.
