KEL-BERG Installs Weighbridge For Type Approval Certification

As part of the requirements of the Whole Vehicle Type Approval certification process, KEL-BERG®, a manufacturer of commercial trailers and bodies, has installed a Fixed Axle Weighbridge from Vehicle Weighing Solutions Ltd (VWS) at its premises to weigh every trailer and declare the correct weight of its vehicles.

Simon Hall, Director, Kel-Berg said: “For each type of vehicle that we produce we have to specify the unladen weight for our Certificate of Conformity. Most of our customers also want to know the tare weight of the trailer before any bodywork or plant such as cranes are installed. In the same way, we want to maximise the durability and payload of our products so its important information for us too. We used to have to drive to a local weighbridge but now it takes seconds and saves us time and money.”

Another advantage of the VWS APOLLO Fixed Axle Weighbridge is the ability to weigh individual axle weights, which most weighbridges can’t do accurately.

Continued Simon: “We now have traceability with both individual axle and gross weights being clearly recorded for each customer. The system is excellent - very quick and easy to use. VWS come out and calibrate it for us once a year but other than that it’s very low maintenance.”

Located at the main entrance to KEL-BERG’s workshops every vehicle can be weighed without delay on either entering or leaving the site and the aptly named APOLLO system easily withstands general traffic driving over the weighbridge.
