For the lowest cost per ton production QMS revamps jaw crushing offering
Quarry Manufacturing & Supplies (QMS) JB Series jaw crushers are designed and engineered to meet, and exceed, the primary crushing needs of customers in the mining, quarrying, and recycling industries. Driven by industry knowledge and working in close association with its customers, the company has now introduced the latest iteration of its JB Series. This has been done to provide customers with what the company believes is the lowest cost per ton primary crushing on the market today...
QMS JB Series jaw crushers are designed to offer the best in crushing engineering excellence; the robust design, complete with high quality cast steel components and premium spherical roller bearings, contributes to reliability and high performance. All QMS jaw crushers incorporate the very latest advances in design and manufacturing techniques. Each component is 100% manufactured and built in-house at QMS’ own manufacturing plants which have benefitted from continual investment. This has enabled QMS to deliver cost-effective jaw crushing globally.
With excellent availability, the QMS JB Series jaw crushers cover a diverse range of applications, each engineered to maximise productivity while minimising operating costs. With quality and productivity endemic to the design, the JB Series exemplifies the finest in engineering excellence, delivering low cost of ownership to deliver high levels of operational profitability.
Reducing the cost of production
Despite the JB Series being competitively priced, what really affects production costs are a variety of operational factors. This includes energy consumption, as crushing equipment consumes a considerable amount of power. To minimise operational costs, QMS has developed efficient power management strategies which helps ensure that efficiency is maximised. Likewise, depending on the plant’s automation level, manual labour is often needed for tasks such as operating machinery, monitoring systems, maintenance, and transportation. With intelligence integrated into the design, the JB Series can reduce reliance on labour. Furthermore, Jaw crushers require regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance. Spare parts and unexpected repairs can also contribute significantly to ongoing expenses. With sturdiness inbuilt, and supported by QMS itself, maintenance costs are also mitigated.
All of these factors and more were integral in the redesign of the JB Series, which also possesses unique features all geared to delivering production efficiency and cost effectiveness. The latest upgrades to the JB Series are designed to help QMS customers benefit from what the company believes is the lowest cost per ton primary jaw production.
Robust and modular design
The JB Series redesign is the result of various intense studies carried out by the QMS research and development team, including FEA and fatigue calculations, bench testing and theoretical calculations. All aspects of the JB Series have been specifically assessed with attention to even the smallest of details, resulting in the highest possible reliability and functionality which is focused on crusher efficiency. The modular, non-welded frame boasts a state-of-the art design with two hot rolled steel side plates joined to high quality cast steel frames with the absence of stress inducers to provide excellent durability against shock loads.
Providing strength and helping to ensure productivity, the high quality cast steel jaw stock is propelled by two cast iron flywheels. A large eccentric shaft forging and four spherical roller bearings deliver maximum reliability even under the harshest crushing conditions. Grease lubricated bearings are kept free from contamination by well-designed labyrinth seals. In addition, a single piece frame bearing housing ensure a flawless fit to the crusher frame. This prevents unnecessary loads to the frame bearings that are common with two piece frame bearing housings. The redesign also means that all jaw profiles are manufactured using high quality material whilst an integral motor base is mounted in the main frame, reducing the need for space and markedly long V-belts. There is no differential movement between the crusher and the integral movement, resulting in the prolonged life of the V-belts.
Flexibility inbuilt
As material reduction is a key stage in mining, quarrying, recycling and construction, with each sector having specific needs and requirements, to facility flexibility, and hence efficiency and maximise output, the JB Series come complete with a sturdy wedge setting adjustment system. The wedge setting adjustment system is faster and safer compared to shim adjustment systems. The crusher setting can be hydraulically adjusted quickly and efficiently without having to handle bulky shims. This system is also effectively proven to clear the crusher’s cavity should it stall under load. This helps to ensure that different outputs can be achieved with no interference in production.
“The QMS JB Series of jaw crushers has provided customers throughout the world with a state-of-the-art primary jaw crushing solution. However, even the best can be improved,” says Quarry Manufacturing & Supplies managing director Jonathan Beck. “Our aim in redesigning the JB Series is to improve productivity, efficiency and accuracy. In doing this we have designed a jaw crusher that uses energy more efficiently, is able to produce more tons of crushed material per hour and fit seamlessly into a production flow whilst being resilient and less dependent on labour. The entire design of the JB Series is maintenance friendly and built to deal with the most demanding of operating conditions. This means we believe that we have a primary jaw crusher that will help contribute to the lowest cost per ton production,” concluded Jonathan Beck.
The JB Series of jaw crushers is available as a base unit or part of modular plant. Jaw sizes available range from 930 x 580mm to 1400 x 1200mm, producing a CSS from 60mm to 250mm and scalped production up to 1,500tph.
