Drops Cycling Team announce Alupro as lead sponsorship partner

Recycling of aluminium packaging promoted through women’s competitive cycling team
The Aluminium Packaging Recycling Organisation (Alupro) is sponsoring the Drops Cycling Team during 2017 as part of its work to encourage everyone to recycle more of the aluminium packaging they use at work, at home and on the go. The sponsorship will focus on the Every Can Counts programme, which helps people to recycle drinks cans used outside the home.
Formed in 2016, The Drops Cycling Team is a member of UCI, the world governing body for competitive cycling. The team includes 16 riders from Great Britain and across the world. During the 2017 season the team will be helping to raise awareness of the Every Can Counts programme at races around the UK, including the Tour de Yorkshire and the Tour Series.
Drops Director, Tom Varney says: “We’re delighted to welcome Alupro on board. The Every Can Counts initiative, and recycling in general has many synergies with cycling and we’re excited to explore opportunities of how we can educate people further.”
Alupro Executive Director, Rick Hindley says: “The partnership with Drops gives us a great opportunity to reach a large, and growing, audience of people who, because of their enthusiasm for cycling, also care about the environment. The profile of this young, ambitious and enthusiastic team of athletes complements the brand values of Every Can Counts; so we’ll be working closely with the team to promote our message thoroughout the season and urging their followers to make their cans count!”
Every Can Counts is supported by drink can manufacturers, recyclers and leading brands to encourage drinks can recycling. The scheme looks to encourage the recycling of drink cans in all environments. This includes workplaces, universities and colleges, events, festivals, simply on the go or when watching a cycling race!
