Liebherr Provides Batching Plants for CEMEX UK

- Materials Handling
CEMEX is a leading provider of aggregates, cement and readymix concrete in more than 50 countries worldwide
The Mobilmix 2.25 is a mobile horizontal concrete batching plant with high production outputs, features and capabilities which compare favourably with production performance normally associated with static plants. Of robust modular construction and capable of being transported on only a few vehicles, the Mobilmix 2.25 has easily assembled components for fast and safe erecting and dismantling. With all modules fully integrated - and the entire plant with inline and cement silos on their own steel foundations - the Mobilmix 2.25 can be installed quickly with minimum ground preparation and can be ready to batch within a few days.
The heart of the plant is the Liebherr twin-shaft mixer with production capacities of up to 100m³ "set" concrete per hour. Liebherr's own Litronic MPS II microprocessor control, installed in its own integrated module, regulates and monitors the plant's operation - moisture and temperature measuring devices can be included and, should cement additives be required, Liebherr is also able to supply and install an admixture weigher. The cement silo capacities are 100 tonnes each, the belt weigher load maximum is 6,000kg, the cement weigher load is 1,200kg and the water weigher load is 600kg.
The whole plant, with mixer and weigher platforms, is designed and built to provide ample space for routine cleaning and maintenance procedures.
As part of its sustainability efforts, CEMEX is looking to increase recycling and has recently also taken delivery of Liebherr concrete recycling plants for many of its locations. At the Poole, Dorset ready-mix concrete depot for example (see photo), CEMEX has installed a Liebherr LRT 622 trough system recycling plant, which is designed for cost-effective and efficient separation and recycling for the re-use of concrete's residual components before they are hardened from batching plants and truckmixers. A proportion of the process water from the recycling plant, which is collected in a vat and maintained in suspension by an agitator, can be returned to the production plant and sand and gravel are washed out cleanly for re-introduction as production aggregates.
The trough pattern on the LRT 622 holds a particularly high volume of wash water so that larger quantities of material for recycling can be added at shorter intervals. Additionally, the screw is located within the housing so that a bed of material is built up, thereby avoiding unnecessary wear. The screw shaft runs in maintenance-free bearings.
The generously proportioned loading hopper can be filled from virtually any angle and is sized to accommodate up to two truckmixers at any one time, with a throughput capacity of up to 80m³ per hour, depending on application.
