Kavanagh Crane Hire Takes Two New Liebherr LTM Mobile Cranes and One MK 110 Construction Crane

- 7th November 2007
- Materials Handling
Commenting on the recent additions to the hire fleet, company director Paul Kavanagh said "We are operating 13 Liebherr cranes in our modern fleet and the 160 tonner is now our biggest Liebherr model. The inclusion of the MK 110 Construction Crane also gives us an ability to provide excellent height and reach for restricted building sites - especially on inner city work where space is at a premium. Being self-erecting, the MK 110 allows us move onto site and be operational very quickly, which is a great advantage for this kind of application".
Kavanagh Crane Hire's Liebherr LTM 1160-5.1 has been taken with 62 metres of main boom and 12.2-22 metres of fly-jib which can be offset to 22.5º and 45º. Maximum lifting capacities on the main boom are 160 tonnes at minimum 3m radius and 1.7 tonnes at a maximum working radius of 58m. On maximum fly-jib, the capacity is 1.1 tonne at 70 metres radius.
The Liebherr LTM 1130-5.1 features a 60 metres main boom with duties from 130 tonnes at 3m radius to 1.9 tonnes at 56m radius. Kavanagh Crane Hire has taken the 10.8-19 metres fly-jib with a 0º, 20º and 40º degree off-set which gives a maximum capacity of 0.8 tonnes at a radius of 68 metres.
The carrier on both models is powered by a Liebherr engine developing 370kW. They are equipped with a 12 speed automatic gearboxes, hydropneumatic suspension, disc brakes all round and active rear axle steering for extreme manoeuvrability. The hydraulic outriggers feature support pressure indication. The crane engines, again, are made by Liebherr and produce 145kW. Electric load-sensing control provides simultaneous operation of four working motions via twin self-centering joysticks located in the operator's seat armrests. The electrical systems employ the latest data bus techniques and Liebherr's own LICCON safe load indicators incorporate a diagnostic and testing system.
The MK 110 Construction Crane is a self-erecting tower crane mounted on to a five axle carrier which is powered by a Liebherr engine developing 370kW. Axles 1, 3 and 4 are driven, all are steering and the rear axle has active steering for extreme manoeuvrability producing a turning radius of only 13.16 metres. The 52 metres long jib can be luffed to 45º and the telescopic tower produces a maximum under-hook height of 68m when the jib is fully luffed; 33m when the jib is in its standard position. Maximum capacities are 1800kg at 52 metres radius; 2300kg at 44 metres radius. At maximum 45º luff, the capacity is 1700kg at a working radius of 37.2 metres. The MK 110 Construction Crane is renowned for fully automatic one-person erecting at the touch of a button.
