Diggers 360 Ltd of Filching near Eastbourne has taken delivery of the first EC160C excavator marketed in the U.K. complete with dozer blade.

- 4th October 2007
- Materials Handling
The recently delivered EC160C has been supplied with a factory fitted dozer blade and is ideally suited to the diversity of projects undertaken by Mr Chapple's company as well as regular contract work in pipe laying duties for Southern Water projects. A combination of powerful rim pull and precision control turns the EC160C into a versatile machine with the ability to doze and grade to fine tolerances. Installed with the new Tier III compliant Volvo D6 engine developing 118 net hp, the machine offers high torque at low rpm, leading to ultra-efficient fuel consumption. The engine is impossible to stall as the onboard computer balances maximum available power to hydraulic output, preventing the engine from becoming overloaded (regardless of engine speed or pump demand). The total operating weight with blade tips 18.4 tonnes.
The new C series excavators from Volvo offer a larger Care Cab providing more room for the operator. Visibility has also much improved over the B model - especially upper and lower visibility in the operator's field of view. A Multi-adjustable seat, pedals and joystick offer the perfect operating position and the enhanced suspension system surpasses emerging cab vibration requirements, reducing operator fatigue and whole body vibration. A new colour LCD display is easy to read, also in very bright conditions and offers real time information. The new cab on the C series machine has also met the approval of operator Sean Tutt, who has been operating excavators for David Chapple for many years citing the machine as the most comfortable and operator friendly machine he has driven.
Further endorsement of David Chapple's belief in the Volvo brand has been demonstrated with a second EC160C, a new C series EC290 and a brace of EC140's ordered for delivery later in the year.
