Available in a range of thicknesses, the certified steels include the water quenched grades of ABRO 400 and ABRO 500; both of which will be showcased at this year's Hillhead Exhibition in Buxton.
ABRO 400 is ideal for buckets and edges, skip liners, knives and shears, recycling plants, loading and earthmoving machinery, dredgers and conveyors. With an average hardness of 400 HBW it is possible to shear and punch, drill and form this steel. Traditional oxy-gas, plasma and laser methods of cutting are all possible. ABRO 400 can be readily welded using the MMA, MIG & SAW processes. It is available in 3mm to 120mm thicknesses.
ABRO 500 has an average hardness of 500 HBW and can be used in the same applications as ABRO 400 but has the advantage of higher wear resistance giving longer service life in arduous conditions. Like the 400 grade this material can be processed, though some specialist knowledge will be required. ABRO 500 is available in 6mm to 80mm thickness.
Director Adrian Hance concluded, "IMS have over 100 years of steel industry knowledge and as well as the ABRO 400 and 500 range, we also stock a number of other specialist grades. We are not just a distributor, we also offer processing facilities in order to provide finished components for our customers. Furthermore, we offer full technical and material advice and support to provide cost effective solutions for all applications."
