A new Volvo L25F wheeled loader has been supplied to Richard Williams (Deganwy) Ltd and has been put in charge of the company's new venture in supplying sand and aggregate in bulk at its Ruthin facility in North Wales.
Richard Williams (Deganwy) Ltd, well established builders merchants with establishments located at Llandudno Junction and Ruthin has added a new venture to the latter facility supplying sand and ballast products in both bulk and bag which required the services of a small loading shovel. Having researched the market looking at a variety of different models the Company opted for a purpose made compact loading shovel and chose an L25F from Volvo Construction Equipment.
The new loading shovel was subsequently supplied complete with standard 0.85m³ bucket, a set of pallet forks and a bespoke Strimech one tonne bag filling bucket by Volvo CE's utility dealer Seddons Engineering. "We've operated the slightly larger L30B at our Llandudno operation which has given us very good reliability over the last six years so this was another deciding factor in us choosing a Volvo machine for Ruthin," commented Director Rob Stewart. "So far we are delighted with our new L25F."
The 4.8 tonne L25F is powered by a Volvo 3.6 litre oil/air cooled engine developing 58.6hp coupled to a fully hydrostatic transmission providing a maximum torque of 190Nm at just 1700rpm. The machine has two speed ranges with a maximum top speed of 20kph - more than adequate for its duties around the yard at Ruthin. The machine has a full turn tipping load of 3800kg and a forward reach of 1.47 metres and is ideally matched to the size of the bins holding a variety of sand and ballast product. The engine, transmission and hydraulic pumps are mounted transversely at the rear of the machine which acts as a 'live' counterweight and all components for servicing and maintenance are easily accessed.
The new L25F is Richard William's second Volvo machine which follows an L30B delivered to the company's Llandudno Junction site six years ago.
