Terex Pegson's Latest Generation XR400 Crusher for West Country Demolition Company

Terex Pegson's Latest Generation XR400 Crusher for West Country Demolition Company
DRS Demolition National, the St. Austell based demolition and recycling specialists, have taken delivery of a Terex Pegson XR400 tracked jaw crusher to add to their plant fleet. The machine is the first to be sold through Terex Pegson's newly appointed UK dealer, Blue Machinery Southern plc.

The XR400 is currently being used by DRS in St Dennis to reduce a large stockpile of demolition concrete into a saleable product. It incorporates a number of new features that will benefit the operator. The main product conveyor can be lowered in seconds to further increase the excellent access to the conveyor area. This makes the removal of wire so much easier on recycling applications than with other makes. It is also fitted with an easy to set up hopper, wide crusher feed entry and TEREX Pegson's well proven hydraulic release system.  This simple system ensures that if a large piece of uncrushable material, of up to 200mm3, enters the crushing chamber then it will automatically open on overload preventing damage to the crushing chamber. It also allows the setting changes to be made very quickly.

DRS site manager Nick Southall says "We are very pleased with the performance of the crusher - it has exceeded our expectations in all areas, being user friendly and cost effective in terms of product output and reliability".

The powerful 1100 mm x 650 mm jaw crusher has a highly aggressive crushing action which draws material down into the crushing chamber, maximising the throughput of the machine. An unrestricted feed opening allows large material sizes to be accepted without prior breaking.

The fully skirted 1m wide conveyor discharges the product at a height of 3.9 m forward of the machine for improved stockpiling. The conveyor can be lowered hydraulically to reduce machine headroom when travelling.

To meet environmental regulations the machine incorporates water sprays located both above and below the crusher and at the conveyor head to keep any dust emissions to a minimum.

An overband magnet mounted over the product conveyor takes out any metals in the product stream to the side of the plant for recycling.

Power is provided by a clean running 172 kW Caterpillar C9 diesel engine, and the machine is controlled by a state-of-the-art PLC with automatic sequence start-up and shut-down. One of the many benefits of this new X400 range of machines is the HFO direct drive system, which makes for substantial fuel savings against similar sized competitors' machines.

Built-in serviceability has resulted in easy access to the crusher drive and power pack with hydraulic and oil filter changes extended to 2000hour intervals.

DRS Demolition National which was started 25 years ago by its current owner Dave Shrigley, specialises in civil engineering projects from initial demolition and site clearance to full remedial work and salvage.

The company operates a modern and comprehensive plant hire fleet which, includes excavators, crushers and loading shovels, together with a road transport fleet of tipper and skip lorries.
