So says Peter Scott, co-Director of Teeside based aggregate recycling and crushing company Scott Bros Thornaby as he takes delivery of the company's first Volvo loading shovel, an L150G.
The new Volvo L150G supplied complete with bespoke 4.2m³ rehandling bucket, automatic greasing system and RDS 8000i weigh loader with printer is the first Volvo product to be purchased by Scott Bros for their plant fleet totalling fifteen assorted machines although Volvo loaders were regularly hired in previously for various duties. "With our current work load it made absolute sense to purchase instead of paying hire charges," says co Director Peter Scott. "We've been that impressed with the reliability and performance of the Volvos we've had on hire that in our opinion we consider the product to be the best available in today's market," he continues.
The new, twenty five tonne wheeled loader has been deployed rehandling and loading tippers with recycled and crushed concrete of various grades ranging from MOT type 1 down to dust on the site of an old chemical production plant on Teesside. The bespoke rehandling bucket is more than capable of handling the full range of material on site and loading a varying range and size of road wagon is easily facilitated by the RDS 8000i weigh loader.
The L150G features a 13 litre Stage IIIB compliant 300hp engine, optishift transmission and axles all designed and manufactured by Volvo and features a full turn tipping load of 17.2 tonnes and a 20% increase in lifting force and 10% increase in breakout force over its predecessor. This coupled to the engine output with high torque at low engine rpm has resulted in faster cycle times and increased productivity. Two stronger, variable displacement load-bearing axial piston pumps and hoses have been introduced to handle the increased pressures. These provide superior control of the load and attachments, as well as high breakout force, faster lifting and tilt functions. A new hydraulic cooling system has been designed to reduce the working temperatures by up to 20oC over the F series model. Fuel savings are further enhanced by the Volvo Eco pedal encouraging the operator to run the machine at its optimum rpm in the engine's torque curve.
Scott Bros Ltd is a family run business established in 1971 by the father of co- Directors Peter and David Scott. The company has grown and developed from its origins supplying tipper lorries to local authorities and the Building and Construction industries. Today its operations have become one of the largest Haulage, Plant Hire and recycling Contractors in the North East offering a complete package in excavation, haulage and tipping employing over 100 personnel.
Volvo Construction Equipment Division markets wheeled loaders, articulated haulers, hydraulic excavators, graders, Volvo utility equipment and Volvo road equipment products in the U.K. There are eight strategically placed customer support centres and a network of utility equipment dealers to ensure high quality customer support is maintained throughout the country.
