Continuous oil condition monitoring reduces operating costs for diesel generators and other

The Tan Delta OQS oil sensor was easily fitted in minutes to an existing diesel generator and immediately started monitoring the condition of the oil in real time guarding this critical and expensive piece of equipment.

The operator was immediately relieved of having to worry about oil condition caused by wear and tear or unexpected contamination, safe in the knowledge that he would be alerted to even the smallest change in oil condition and provided with easy to interpret data on whether or not
to take action.

The OQS sensor from Tan Delta Systems constantly monitors the condition of the oil whilst in operation. Many different aspects of the oil's condition is continuously and accurately measured. From contamination caused by moisture, water or metallic elements to oxidisation or the general degradation of the oil's lubricating performance. This accurate and simultaneous monitoring of multiple oil condition KPI's, coupled with simple presentation of the oil's condition at any point in time provide an easy to use and cost effective method of equipment operating costs.

Over a period of 6 months the mobile plant operator was able to optimise service intervals whilst also reducing equipment failure rates caused by unexpected oil deterioration. The overall result a material reduction in operating costs.

Chris Greenwood, Tan Delta Systems Managing Director said: "Our oil condition sensors are designed to be easy to fit to virtually any engine, gearbox or hydraulic system and will immediately provide a constant watch over the real time condition of the oil. Operators are alerted to a problem before it causes damage, or worse a terminal breakdown. Our customers are able to measure the success of fitting one of our sensors in their reduced costs."
