Recycling and material handling supplier, The Blue Group, has recently supplied one of their longest standing customers, Shorts Recycling, with a total recycling package in Aldershot, Hampshire.
Shorts Recycling is part of the Shorts Group, a long-established, independent family owned business offering a range of services including plant hire, agricultural contracting, skip hire, waste management, demolition and more.
Headquartered in Ascot, Shorts provide services throughout Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Surrey and the surrounding counties and are also delivering their products and services throughout the UK and Europe. A large amount of the waste Shorts collect, including wood, concrete and brick is turned into products such as soil and compost, mulch, wood chippings, crushed concrete, brick and hardcore. Shorts are rightly proud to claim that 100% of materials entering their transfer stations are recycled with nothing going to landfill. The new facility in Aldershot will not only take waste from Shorts own construction and demolition based activities but from a variety of outside sources.
To complement their existing waste transfer and recycling stations, Shorts has recently put into operation a complete Kiverco 615 waste recycling system featuring a fully lit and heated twin bay operator cabin. Material enters the recycling chain through another new purchase from the Blue Group, a Terex Fuchs MHL320D wheeled material handler.
Seen as an ideal entry level waste handling machine the 19 tonne MHL320D is powered by a fuel efficient, 4-cylinder turbo charged Deutz diesel engine developing 85KW/114HP currently meeting Tier 3 emissions regulations. Supplied to Shorts with a hydraulically elevating operator's cabin offering the operator an eye-level working height of up to 5.2m, the MHL320D is ideally suited to loading the hopper of the Kiverco 615 Trommel system with incoming waste products and when required, loading finished products for dispatch.
The MHL320D has been specified with 5.2m boom and a 3.7m multi purpose stick giving the handler a pin height of 10m and a reach, at ground level, of almost 11m. Shorts have opted for an Ardennes selector grab to load the various waste products into the Kiverco's hopper.
The 4.9m long undercarriage has been fitted with the optional four-point stabilisers which give the MHL320D a very stable 3.9m wide platform. The MHL320D is equipped with hydrostatic all wheel drive as standard with power delivered through an infinitely variable axial piston motor giving the machine a maximum speed of 20km/h (12.4 mph). Braking to all four wheel sets is via a hydraulic single circuit braking system. The turning radius for the Terex Fuchs machine is a compact 7.0m.
Operator comfort is of paramount importance to Shorts and the Terex Fuchs does not disappoint. With deep profiled, heat insulated glazing offering superb all round vision, height and tilt-adjustable steering column and coming with air conditioning as a standard will give the operator a pleasant working environment.
Group Managing Director Gary Short commented on his companies latest acquisition; "We are very excited about both of our new purchases and especially in the fact we now have a single point of contact for all of our recycling needs. The Blue Group has supplied us with a first class package to meet our requirements and the MHL320D is exceeding our initial expectations."
