Improved Fuel Efficiency, Productivity and Operator Comfort for the Popular Cat® D6N

Continuing a legacy of excellence, the new Cat® D6N track-type tractor now combines proven reliability and durability with greater fuel efficiency, enhanced productivity, finish grading performance and operator comfort. The new Cat D6N excels in every job, and its precision and stability make it a great machine for fine grading applications.

D6N grows even more efficient
The Cat C6.6 ACERT™ engine meets U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 4 Interim, European Union Stage IIIB and Japan MLIT Step 4 emissions standards. The proven Cat Clean Emission Module, which incorporates a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC), a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and the Cat Regeneration System, functions automatically without interrupting the machine's working cycle.

Equipped with a new Auto Engine Idle Shutdown timer, an Auto Engine Speed Control and an on-demand viscous clutch for the cooling fan, the Cat D6N offers greater fuel efficiency. In addition, Eco Modes can be activated in Forward or Forward/Reverse settings, giving the potential to substantially reduce fuel consumption even further, thus lowering owning and operating costs.

An Auto Shift/Auto Kick-Down function allows pre-selection of forward and reverse speed settings. The Auto Shift/Auto Kick-Down system can provide increased production, fuel efficiency and ease of operation.

The high efficiency torque converter works with the differential steering to maintain full power to both tracks during a turn and enables a greater blade load capability, better power management and finer speed control when making turns or negotiating slopes.

The standard stiffer equalizer bar provides increased stability to further improve finish grading performance. A choice of Heavy Duty, Cat Sealed-and-Lubricated Track (SALT) or Cat SystemOne™ undercarriage systems are available to help customers equip the tractor for optimal performance and reduced owning and operating costs.

The new C-frame and blade design offers easier pitch adjustment to enable the machine to be adjusted to match different applications, soil types and deliver more productivity.

Operator Comfort
The D6N now features a proven differential steering controller made popular in other Cat tractor models. The steering tiller comfortably places all transmission functions in one hand, allowing the operator to easily select forward-neutral-reverse functions, speed recall and ground speed adjustment – the latter using a thumb roller wheel incorporated into the steering controller. The design also provides solid grip support in harsh applications.

Ergonomics have been improved with the introduction of new electro-hydraulic controls and updated easy-to-read dashboard displays providing all the machine information within easy reach of the operator. New switch location and integrated winch levers make it more convenient to handle. Operators appreciate comfort features like adjustable arm rests, foot rests for slope work, automatic air conditioner control and the standard Cat Comfort Series Air Suspension Seat

Integrated Technologies
The new tractor is Grade Control ready, with integrated harnesses incorporated into the machine during assembly. This allows for easy dealer installation of an AccuGrade™ machine control and guidance system when the machine is purchased or later as business requirements change.

This new model is also fitted with Cat Product Link, which allows remote monitoring of equipment to improve overall fleet-management effectiveness. Cat Product Link is integrated into machine systems. Events and diagnostic codes, as well as hours, fuel, idle time and other detailed information are transmitted to a secure web-based application, VisonLink™. VisionLink includes powerful tools to convey information to users and dealers, including mapping, working and idle time, fuel level and much more.
