Thorworld Ramps Up Its Export Sales.

The Chesterfield, Derbyshire, based manufacturer is seeing a growing demand for its mobile yardramps from companies in Central & Eastern Europe and the Far East, as well as closer to home from businesses in Ireland.
Two seven tonne Economy range models together with a 10 tonne Deluxe ramp have recently been sold to new customers in Hungary, Lithuania and Poland, and in Thorworld's first ever export sale to Thailand, a seven tonne Economy ramp has been despatched to a company in Bangkok. Additionally, seven tonne Economy models have also been supplied to customers in both Northern & Southern Ireland.
Said Thorworld managing director John Meale: "It's satisfying to know that despite increasing numbers of what are sometimes poorly-built, cheap foreign imports coming into the country from low-wage economies, our top quality ramps are experiencing increasing demand from discerning customers around the world."
"We have a long history of exporting ramps to countries in Western Europe and this is now being further extended to the wider global marketplace", he added.
Unlike many of the inferior ramps imported from Eastern Europe and Asia, Thorworld equipment is manufactured to the highest design and engineering standards, with all ramps CE marked and fully meeting all the appropriate EU quality and safety standards.
Thorworld Deluxe and Economy mobile yardramps models are ruggedly built and ideal for the fast loading and unloading of vehicle trailers and containers by fork truck where there is no loading dock. They are available with a steel superstructure in a choice of 7,000 kg, 10,000 kg, 12,000 kg or 15,000 kg capacities.
With a solid beam construction, they are hydraulically operated down to 890mm and have a serrated open grid deck for positive traction in all weather conditions.
Because they come complete with a built-in tow bar they are highly mobile and can be easily moved around by fork lift truck, as necessary. Bespoke models are also available on request to meet specific individual customer requirements.
Thorworld provides a one-stop, single source for a wide range of high quality loading & unloading equipment and loading bay accessories & safety aids, such as: dock shelters & seals, dock levellers, dock plates & boards, dock & vehicle bumpers, wheel chocks and modular loading docks, together with the provision of mobile yardramps, for purchase or rental on a sale or return basis through their specialist RentARamp operation, as well as the Truckloada mobile yardlift, the Dockloada scissor lift platform, and a new low cost Economy ramp.
The company is firmly established as a leading supplier to the loading bay and materials handling sectors, with numerous prestigious customers in warehousing, distribution, logistics, transport, retailing, food, drink, manufacturing, recycling and the service industries.
Thorworld celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2006 and was established by John Meale, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (FCILT), past Chairman of the Association of Loading & Elevating Equipment Manufacturers (ALEM), former president of the BMHF and now a board member of the Federation Europeenne de la Manutention (FEM), the European Federation of Materials Handling and also President of its Elevating and Loading Equipment Product Group.
Thorworld will be featuring its comprehensive range of loading and unloading equipment, including mobile yardramps, on Stand 20C11 at IMHX 2007 (The International Materials Handling Exhibition, NEC, Birmingham, 13-16 March 2007).
