Gavin Townsend, Operations Manager, said "The bucket is so much bigger than anything that we have ever manufactured before that we had to source nearby premises with sufficient height and crane capacity to accommodate something of this size and weight".
Miller UK has been working closely with HCME (Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe) on this project for many months and after several face to face meetings, site visits and a lot of hard work from the Design and Project Teams, an order was secured for ten 29m3 buckets for the EX5500 backhoe and two 23m3 buckets for the EX3600 backhoe. These machines represent some of the largest hydraulic excavators produced in the world today and are a staggering 550 and 360 metric tonnes respectively. Both the EX5500 and EX3600 buckets have been designed for operation in an Open Cast environment in Spain.
Jacqui Miller, Sales and Marketing Director, added "This is indeed a very prestigious order for Miller UK and firmly secures our place in the global market. Miller UK is one of very few suppliers able to design and deliver equipment of such a specialist nature directly to the world's manufactures of excavators this large".
Miller UK prides itself on being able to supply a service second to none for custom built, large bucket requirements. Its specialist Site Solutions Department is on hand to ensure that the best advice is given to provide customers with the most appropriate design to suit each specific application.
