Hot on the heels of three record auctions in Leeds, Dormagen and Valencia, the recent sale in Dromore, Northern Ireland on 7th & 8th October again proved that Euro Auctions is the flavour of the month with buyers and sellers of used construction equipment and industrial plant.
The Euro Auctions sale in Dromore was the first in Northern Ireland following the summer recess and in true Euro Auctions style attracted interest from across the globe. Being a ‘home’ sale, it was of no surprise that the sellers were primarily from the UK, with one significant exception being a regular seller from Malaysia. However it was the interest from buyers that made this sale the success is was, with bidder’s registration up by 21% up over the previous sale in June. In all 47% of lots purchased are destined to be exported from the UK, with the most noticeable consignments going to, in order of size, to France, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Colombia and Belgium.
Registration was strong for this auction with noticeable overseas interest from Jordan, Israel, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Australia, Lithuania, Egypt, Zimbabwe and Croatia. The recent appointment of sales managers for the Iberia Peninsular generated buying interest from Spain and Portugal, with additional activity from South America, with bidders from Columbia competing strongly and buying well for the first time. With large infrastructure projects in South America beginning to show signs of activity it is expected that future sales will attract buyers from that region.
Online activity was brisk, as is becoming commonplace at all Euro Auction sales, with over 31% of sales being bid for and purchased online, and with over 50% of all lots for sale attracting ‘online’ attention. Top categories of interest with online bidders were:
- 20 Tonne + excavators.
- Telehandlers.
- 10 tonne + excavators.
- Articulated dump trucks.
- Mini excavators.
Jonnie Keys, General Manager of Euro Auctions, comments: “Being the first sale since the summer, the most noticeable characteristic was the number of actual attendees at this Dromore sale significantly ‘up’ over the previous auction. While this was principally a ‘home market’ sale we were delighted to see sustained international interest, with many noticeable additions, such as bidding from South America. Again, this is a great testimony to the international demand for used construction equipment and industrial plant our global marketing activity”.
