The initial sale of a Pilot Modular/TRIO TD6118 triple deck screen to Civil Construction Company Limited (CCCL) in Seychelles late in 2010, has been followed by a repeat order for a substantial amount of Pilot Modular equipment worth well in excess of R2 million.
According to export sales manager at Pilot Crushtec Paul Chappel, the new business relates directly to CCCL’s positive experience with its initial purchase of Pilot Modular equipment.
“They bought it and liked it immediately as it opened their eyes to what we call the ‘magic of modular’ — the ability to add machines onto a plant that dovetail perfectly with the existing equipment in place.”
In July, CCCL took delivery of five pieces of equipment including a second Pilot Modular/TRIO TD6118 triple deck screen, a Pilot Modular DD2412 double deck screen, two Pilot Modular MC800 16 metre conveyors and a Pilot Modular MC800 24 metre conveyor.
Leading Seychellois businessman and CEO of CCCL Sunny Kan explains that two factors influenced the decision to buy Pilot Modular equipment.
“We needed to increase the production of aggregate at our MahĂ© quarry and at the same time replace some of our existing plant. There has been a significant increase in our local construction industry and the demand for aggregate has nearly doubled.”
Pilot Crushtec’s factory east of Johannesburg and the CCCL quarry are almost 4,000 kilometres apart but distance is no obstacle to its InstalLink installation team. It set up and commissioned the plant on site while training CCCL employees in the use of their new equipment.
“The installation and commissioning was a very straightforward process and we were actually able to install some parts while our crusher was running. The new TD6118 screen is working very well and has already increased our output. We are happy with our machines and our investment seems to be right on track,” says Kan.
Chappel believes that CCCL’s experience serves to underline the advantage of the Pilot Modular range. “It is quick to install, easy to use and amazingly adaptable.”
The increasing demand for aggregate in the Seychelles reflects the state of the republic’s economy which is currently flourishing following a loan from the European Investment Bank. It reported an annual growth of 6,2% in 2010, with minimal inflation and there have been significant increases in the provision of infrastructure and housing.
