Cosalt has appointed Simon Marshall as Business Development Director to spearhead its drive for new business in the hi-vis clothing and workwear market. In his new role, Simon will focus on expanding the company's presence in the utility, construction, transport and renewables industries.
Before joining Cosalt, Simon was a national account manager for Buck & Hickman, one of the UK's leading distributors of tools, maintenance and health & safety products. He was responsible for looking after key clients in the utility industry. Prior to this he worked for safety distributor Arco, supplying mainly hi-vis clothing to the construction industry.
With over ten years in the business, Simon has developed an excellent technical understanding of how Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and workwear is designed and manufactured. His appointment will provide a major boost to Cosalt's sales team as the company gears up for growth following a number of important contract wins in 2010.
Tasked with developing new business opportunities throughout the UK and Ireland, Simon is particularly looking forward to raising awareness of Cosalt's products and services in the utility and renewable energy markets.
Explained Simon: "My priority will be to focus on the company's excellent workwear and hi-vis ranges and raise our profile in previously untapped markets. My role will be partly educational. I want to get the Cosalt message of quality, reliability and excellent service across to purchase managers in the gas, oil and water industries. In these sectors you find a better quality product can often work out more cost effective over time because it lasts longer. By building strong relationships with these customers I will be able find the best solution to meet their specific needs."
Cosalt is one of the UK's leading providers of protective clothing and equipment to the emergency services, military, transport and construction industries. For many years, it has been one of the main suppliers of structural fire fighting and rescue kit to the majority of UK fire brigades.
Last year Cosalt secured new business with both the North West and South East & Eastern Fire and Rescue Services (FRS) consortiums. The company has just appointed another industry big-hitter Alex McAllister, as Senior Account Manager, to further develop its business in the fire and police sectors.
