Blackwell lands new haul of 14 Bell ADTs

Civil engineering and earthmoving giant CA Blackwell has made a significant addition to its fleet of articulated dump trucks with 14 new B30D machines from Bell Equipment. The new 30-tonne trucks are part of Blackwell’s ongoing fleet replacement and renewal programme.

Some of the new machines are already being used in the Northern Phase of the Clyde Wind Farm project, which was awarded to Blackwell in December. The wind farm, in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, will be one of the biggest on-shore wind farms in Europe. This latest haul of 14 trucks is in addition to the four Bell B40D ADTs bought by Blackwell on the first day of the Hillhead exhibition in June.

The deal has further established Bell’s current position as the sole supplier of ADTs to Essex-based Blackwell. Neville Paynter, managing director of Bell Equipment UK, said: “Blackwell was one of Bell’s first major customers when we first arrived in the UK more than a decade ago, so it’s great to see our relationship continue to grow in this way. “We hope that Blackwell’s loyalty to Bell is testament to not only the strength, reliability and efficiency of our machines but also the fact that we never become complacent in terms of our wider customer service.” Rob King, resource manager for Blackwell, said: “Bell remains our fleet of choice. We look at what else is there in the market, based on price, service and availability, but Bell has once again come out on top.

The service we get from Bell and the residual values of the trucks are particularly good.” Blackwell began work on the new phase of the Clyde Wind Farm project in February.
