Liebherr A 904 C Litronic wheeled excavator with protected travel gear at Bauma

Liebherr A 904 C Litronic wheeled excavator with protected travel gear at Bauma
Liebherr is exhibiting a revised version of the popular A 904 C Litronic wheeled excavator at the 2010 ‘Bauma'. Exceptional torsional rigidity is a feature of its robust undercarriage. The centre section has been extended down to protect the complete travel gear assembly. This ingenious design approach, with the travel gear and undercarriage as a single integrated unit, ensures safe manoeuvrability on rough terrain.

Powered by a Liebherr diesel engine from the latest emission-optimised generation, the A 904 C Litronic develops its maximum output of 105 kW (143 hp) at an engine speed of only 1,800 min-1. For rapid working movements and high performance, the Liebherr hydraulic pump has a delivery rate of 2 x 189 litres/min. Precisely matched Liebherr components are the key to maximum productivity in day-to-day operation on the construction site.

The A 904 C Litronic's excellent traction means rapid acceleration from a standstill, maximum speed on gradients and, in conjunction with the new undercarriage, excellent rough-terrain travel, with safe, powerful manoeuvring even when conditions on the construction site are unfavourable.

The two axles have maintenance-free wet-type multi-plate brakes acting directly on the wheel hubs. They ensure that the machine stands safely without movement even if the outrigger supports are not in use. For the dozer blade, which can also be used to enhance the R 904 C Litronic's stability, a piston rod protection is available as an optional extra. It keeps stones and soil away effectively and prolongs component life. Another convenient feature is the easily operated pushbutton superstructure lock.

The A 904 C Litronic has a large cab with an air-sprung Liebherr seat that can be adjusted to suit the operator's weight. The superstructure uses a well-planned concept with large window areas and rounded-off edges for improved visibility and a reliable view of the entire construction site. Automatic air conditioning with sensors keeps the cab accurately at the preferred temperature, for pleasant working conditions without risk of fatigue.

Liebherr offers the A 904 C Litronic with no fewer than eight boom and nine dipper stick versions, the latter with pipework in protected positions in all cases.
