KKB 3R Limited Invests in Four Powerscreen Chieftain 1400 Screening Plants from Blue

- Recycling
KKB 3R is a multi-disciplined group with a large and versatile fleet of modern earthmoving, materials handling and processing equipment - from ADTs, excavators and loading shovels to bulldozers, crushers and screeners. The company operates nationally, providing aggregate producers, contractors, developers and asphalt companies with a tailor-made solution for recycling, to produce reusable or saleable reclaimed products on site and to specification. KKB 3R processes over 2 million tonnes of waste material every year and, in addition to their core recycling and remediation activities, they also provide services such as site clearance, soil stabilisation, licensed asbestos removal, pile and slab breaking, hydrocarbon decontamination and groundwater treatment.
The highly successful Chieftain 1400 has a capacity of up to 400 tonnes per hour, depending on material and mesh size, and a number of innovative features for cost-effective and efficient screening and stockpiling of inert waste or quarried materials. This crawler-mounted model provides maximum access for easy maintenance and serviceability, whilst operational efficiency and mobility makes the Chieftain 1400 a truly versatile screening unit for large-scale applications, designed and built for high volume processing of C&D waste, overburden, asphalt waste and crushed stone.
KKB 3R's machines feature the optional enlarged 4.30m feed hoppers and two of the Chieftain 1400 plants have been supplied with live heads, which allow chute feed direct from a tandem crusher as well as hopper feed by excavator or loading shovel. The other two have angle adjustable tipping grids which are radio-controlled via double acting hydraulic rams. An ingenious rubber-mounted outer bearing system eliminates the need for fine-tuning of the four-bearing box, thereby reducing downtime potential. In addition, the high-wear section of the top deck is side tensioned, with the remaining section end tensioned, which allows quick and economical replacement of the high-wear section only, obviating the need to replace the whole screen. The feed conveyor is 1050mm wide and has a variable speed for optimum control of materials feed. The hydraulically folding side conveyors allow complete access to the power unit when in the transport position; both are 650mm wide with variable speed control and a stockpiling height of 4.5m. The tail "fines" conveyor too is hydraulically folding but has a wider 1200mm belt and a stockpiling height of 3.85m. All conveyors have Rosta belt scrapers and heavy-duty 3 ply belts. For general transport between sites, the Chieftain 1400 has a low profile for compact travel mode dimensions of 2.75m width, 13.95m length and 3.20m height. Once on site, the heavy-duty low ground pressure crawler undercarriage will achieve a travel speed of 0.87 km/h. The track frame is of integral welded box type construction for maximum strength and rigidity to reduce flexing over rough terrain. Set-up time is, typically, around 15 minutes.
