First UK wireless trade approved forklift scale system

Avery Weigh-Tronix has launched the first UK wireless, trade approved Forklift Scale System. It can be fitted onto any standard forklift and allows operators to capture legal for trade weight data easily and quickly.
Says Chris McAllister: "At a time when margins are tight, our forklift truck scale allows organisations to improve efficiency and output, sometimes by as much as two times. An operator can lift, weigh, move and invoice loads without the need to visit a floor scale."
The option of a Wi-Fi link further improves this efficiency by transferring data to a back office system in real time. If this connection is lost for any reason, the system will hold the information until the link is re-established.
The new FLSC -05 Forklift Scale System consists of a robust weighing scale carriage and a choice of two in-cab indicators. By making the connection between the scale and the indicator wireless, there is less chance of damaging cabling. It also means that companies can fit the system to any forklift including triple masted and stock picking and guided models.
The scale itself simply attaches to the forklifts existing carriage and the forks hook onto it. It has a completely open centre area so that the driver can see the fork tips through the centre aperture without obstructing the view.
Depending on the application operators can choose from one of two indicators.
The Advanced FLI 425 instrument has a Windows CE.NET platform and a 7" touch screen colour LCD display and can operate from 9 to 36volts. It can show up to 19 different data fields simultaneously, each of which the driver can access via the touchscreen. It also displays operator pop ups, wireless status, on-demand diagnostics, alphanumerical entry and stored records.
The collected data can be transmitted in several ways: by serial ports, USB, Ethernet or by using an optional Wi-Fi link or even via the optional Bluetooth. It provides organisations with a simple and efficient solution for capturing, integrating and managing data within their own management systems.
A simpler option is the FLI225 in-cab instrument is also available. It has a fast view backlit LCD display and has nine hard keys. Again it has serial ports for data transmission and an option of Bluetooth or Wi-Fi capability.
Both systems are easy to use, simple to install and it won't take long to train operators on the either instrument.
The Forklift Scale System is claimed by Avery Weigh-Tronix to be the most reliable and durable system currently available. The scale's patented design features two metal plates that are coupled together by the company's Weigh Bar sensors. These deliver accurate readings even when the forklift positions change, when the wheels are on an uneven surface or if the mast is tilted.
