Ring of confidence surrounds Halomec launch at SED 2009

Ring of confidence surrounds Halomec launch at SED 2009

SED provided a flying start in more ways than one for new company, Halomec Ltd, specialists in the supply, installation and technical support of after-market systems for heavy plant and machinery.

As well as bringing angels to SED - complete with wings and halo that proved a talking point of the show - the Stroud-based company announced three key distribution agreements.

Halomec has been appointed south of England distributor for Lincoln automatic lubrication products, as well as securing distribution for Prolec electronic monitoring, weighing and control systems in the same territory.

It is also the exclusive UK dealer for Alphaview vehicle reversing cameras, providing supply, installation and service.

The three distribution deals provide Halomec with lines core to its offering - plant protection, productivity and safety, affording the ring of protection reflected in the business name.

Halomec MD, Julian Athawes, said: "We are proud to launch with a very strong line-up of innovative, high quality solutions from leading brands. The product mix is geared to protecting the mechanical well-being and increasing the return from construction plant and industrial machines. We will be looking to add further products that suit this synergy in the future."

Lincoln's leading lubrication and metering systems, including Quicklub, SSV progressive metering and SSV D-metering, support greater machine reliability and efficiency.

Prolec's control and monitoring solutions provide gains in machine accuracy, productivity and task safety. They include Weighloader, Digmaster, Heightwatch, Liftwatch, TMI (total moment indicator) and Prolec's innovative pcX-3D graphical excavation system.

The Alphaview range of vehicle CCTV meets European calls to improve the reversing safety of heavy plant, municipal and commercial vehicles.  Systems include 5" or 7" full colour TFT flat panel monitors with excellent sunlight readability, wireless remote control for all monitor functions, rugged weatherproof housing and 110 degrees viewing angle.

By protecting against break-down, and improving task efficiency and safety, the trio of brands supports better return on investment and greater profitability from heavy plant and machinery.

Julian Athawes adds: "Halomec is not just about the products. Equally crucial, we are committed to giving a level of service and technical support that delivers real customer satisfaction, safeguarding against machine downtime and improving the bottom line."

Track record

While Halomec is a new name in the plant and equipment market, founder and MD, Julian Athawes, has a long and successful track record in vehicle and machinery engineering sales. A qualified mechanical engineer, he has worked exclusively in the vehicle and machinery trade for more than 20 years, most recently as MD of Halomec forerunner, Allfett Ltd.

Mr Athawes said: "Halomec provides a dynamic new concept, with its focus on delivering parts and service dedicated to protecting and enhancing the holistic performance of heavy machinery. The business model will allow us to diversify in future across a wider product range to meet the market's ever-growing emphasis on machine safety, productivity and reliability."

He added: "We are also equipped to lever a strong position in the machinery after-market with the respected brands we have signed up to."

Managing operations from Halomec's head office in Stroud is a highly skilled, technical team, selected for their experience in the plant and equipment trade.

Business Development Manager, Ben Morris, and Technical Specialist, Will Browning, will head up technical sales alongside Julian Athawes, as well as coordinating site service from regional engineers for the full product range.

SED launch

Julian Athawes was delighted with the company's launch at SED, saying: "The Halomec concept and product portfolio were very well received at SED. We enjoyed plenty of interest and very good quality enquiries from visitors. Foot-fall remained strong right through to the close of the show.

"This is undoubtedly down to Reed Exhibition's usual excellent organisation and show promotion, and SED's continuing importance within the construction calendar. We have reserved space for next year."

He added: "Of course, interest in the Halomec stand was boosted by the band of angels assisting with our show promotions and daily competitions."

Winners of Halomec's daily draw to win an Alphaview reversing camera were Bill Ellis of Ellis Crane Hire, Eirian Jones of E Jones Plant Hire and Jim Delaney.
