Launched in early 2007, the UK exclusive OTR CushionTyre is already demonstrating significant cost saving and environmental values to OTR customers through its potential for continued retreading. "Since our first successful retread, we have seen CushionTyres come back to the factory for 2nd and 3rd life retreading with no loss in tyre performance. In fact, we have found that tyre life hours of a retreaded CushionTyre are very similar to that of its original tyre specification but with significant cost per hour reductions," stated Waste Industry Manager Paul Tracey.
Available in a range of sizes and tread patterns, the OTR CushionTyre can be retreaded to customer specification: a variety of patterns available, from standard waste tread patterns to slick tread patterns and bespoke Smooth and Groove tread patterns, allowing it to suit any working environment.
"These tyres are resistant to cuts and damage and do not puncture, so are most suitable for high hazard environments. With their excellent retreadability and wear life, CushionTyres are contributing significantly towards the industry's drive for environmental sustainability," continued Paul.
Manufactured with two rows of apertures built into the sidewall structure of the tyre, the OTR CushionTyre allows better shock absorption and reduces the overall solid weight of the tyre. "The anti-abrasion compound formula and deep tread design ensure that OTR CushionTyres are longer lasting than pneumatic tyres, and although they will obviously wear, OTR's retreading ability ensures a longer lasting, cost effective tyre," concluded Paul.
In addition to OTR's recent retreading successes, new tyre compounds, processing and finishing techniques are continually being tested, ensuring that OTR develop their products and services for the earthmover, waste and bulk handling markets - a commitment which offers customers ‘much more than just tyres'.
