Caterpillar Introduces C7 ACERT® and C9 ACERT Industrial Open Power Units for Industrial Applications
Peoria, IL., February 3, 2009 - Caterpillar today announced the introduction of C7 ACERT® (225-300 hp/168-224 bkW) and C9 ACERT (275-375 hp/205-280 bkW) Industrial Open Power Units (IOPU) for industrial applications. These new offerings allow customers to conveniently order pre-configured power packs.  These fuel efficient units are ready made for a wide variety of applications including irrigation, industrial and mining pump applications.

"The Industrial Open Power Unit is a complete power package containing the radiator, flywheel, alternator and alternator wiring pre-assembled for fast, straightforward installation into a number of OEM applications' said Cat industrial engine marketing manager Mike Reinhart.  "The introduction of these units continues the Caterpillar commitment to provide additional value to our OEM and end user customers. And because these units are backed by the most responsive global support network in the world, they deliver outstanding performance and reliability." Reinhart added.

Additional options include auxiliary crank pulleys, battery cables, bases and clutches making an IOPU an even more compact and versatile option for dealers and OEMS.  Available in multiple engine ratings, the Industrial Open Power Units will be available for delivery in the first quarter of 2009.
