The viscosity of hydraulic fluid is a key factor in prolonging the lifetime of a hydraulic system. If a hydraulic system is started with a low temperature, the viscosity of the hydraulic fluid is higher than it is at operating temperature. This creates in an increased amount of friction on pumps and motors, resulting in an earlier wear of the components and reduced service life of the entire system.
KTR have a range of tank heaters available to suit a variety of systems. The new addition the range - the TEHM - is a magnetic heater which can be retrofitted to your current system. Draining of your system is not necessary as the heater can be inserted either horizontally to the tank ground or vertically to the tank wall using magnetic clamps making installation simple.
The tubular device preheats the hydraulic fluid via the internal thermostat which can be preset with turn-on or shut-off times ensuring the equipment is working with optimum viscosity from the very beginning.
KTR also produce a range of heating cartridges and elements which can be fitted when building brand new systems. These are available with or without temperature control (0 - 85˚C), with external or internal setting and the ability to change the ceramic cartridges without draining the system, installed in a screw-in thread G1˝" or G2".
